Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) Supplies Electricity to Approximately eight districts in Karnataka. BESCOM has Announced the Launch of a doorstep Verification Facility under the (Gruha Jyoti Scheme) effective from 01 July 2026. Under this Scheme residents of Karnataka will be provided with 200 units free electricity in Karnataka per month.

BESCOM Announced on its X (Twitter) Account that the Verification of all (Gruha Jyothi) Beneficiaries will now be Conducted at their home.
The post stated BESCOM meter readers will Personally visit your home to verify all Necessary documents and Assist with the application Process Using a Compay Mobile app.
BESCOM Further added that Eligible beneficiaries of the (Gruha Jyothi Scheme) Will Receive direct benefits, meter readers will Visit their homes to Collect the Required documents and help fill out the scheme application.

The documents Required for a New Gruha Jyoti application include an Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Ration card, Caste Certificate (if applicable), a Passport size photograph and a rent agreement (for Tenants).

Consumers Moving from an old residence to a new one whether tenants or home owners must de-link their Existing Electricity connection ID before applying for the Karnataka government Gruha Jyothi Scheme for the New property.

Step 2: Enter your Aadhaar Number and the Consumer basic details.
